THE PURE JOY OF NATURE: IN THE SHADOWS OF MOUNT FUJI.
FUJIKAWAGUCHIKO, JAPAN.
Located in a section of a national park, overlooking the tranquil Lake Kawaguchi and facing majestic Mount Fuji, 60 BMW i Pure Impulse guests got to enjoy an inspiring event at the HOSHINOYA Fuji resort during a warm September weekend.
While some Japanese guests drove to the event in their own BMW i8s, other guests flew in from the USA, Canada, Sweden and Singapore for the event.
On Saturday afternoon, guests were welcomed at the resort’s Cloud Terrace, an open air space in the middle of the woods, by Peter Kronschnabl, President of BMW Group Japan and Piera Kaempf, Director of the BMW i Pure Impulse Programme.
The renowned volcanology expert Professor Hiroki Kamata joined the group for a fascinating fireside talk about Japan’s volcanic activity. For non Japanese-speaking participants, simultaneous translation had been arranged to ensure they could actively partake in the talk.
In the evening, guests enjoyed a delicious five-course dinner at the beautiful restaurant, with delicacies such as hōtō noodles, a regional specialty from the Yamanashi Prefecture, and a desert resembling Mount Fuji.
After-dinner drinks were served back on the Cloud Terrace, where a violinist accompanied the lively chatter of the guests. As a sweet trip down memory lane, marshmallows were on hand for roasting over the open fire.
All guest rooms featured a private balcony with a magnificent view as well as an outdoor fireplace. In the morning guests could chose to have breakfast either on their own balcony, in the dining hall or even outdoors in the forest.
Later on Sunday morning, most participants joined an informal Q&A session with BMW experts who answered their questions about the BMW i8 and the future of mobility. The BMW i Pure Impulse Team then bid the guests farewell, many of whom are planning on participating in upcoming events soon.
