REVIEW. SPOTLIGHT ON ARCHITECTURE.
BMW i Pure Impulse members from the USA, England and Ukraine enjoyed a weekend in the Windy City from 23-25 October. The event highlighted Chicago’s status as a pioneer of modern architecture.
After arriving at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, guests first gathered together on Friday evening at Cindy’s – the Hotel’s hip rooftop restaurant. Here they enjoyed dinner with expansive views over the famous Millennium Park and on to Lake Michigan.
Saturday morning was spent exploring the city’s iconic downtown ‘Loop’ neighbourhood’s towering buildings with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide. This was followed by lunch at the Art Institute of Chicago.
‘The Art of Building’, part of the ongoing Pioneer Series Talks, took place at Soho House Chicago in the afternoon. Sarah Herda, co-director of Chicago’s first Architecture Biennial, explained how the Biennial brought together 100 architectural firms from all over the world. Ilias Papageorgiou, partner at New York-based design firm SO-IL, gave a presentation on the young company’s creative projects all over the world. The two then took part in a lively Q&A session before mingling with guests over drinks.
The evening ended with a family-style private dinner at Soho House Chicago’s Belt Room.
