REVIEW. STEERING THE STELVIO.
MUNICH, GERMANY, TO BORMIO, ITALY.
In a memorable first, BMW i Pure Impulse members from the UK, Russia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic and France travelled from Munich, Germany, to the charming town of Bormio, Italy, in a scenic drive that spanned four countries with the majestic Alps as their backdrop for the day.
The event started the evening before the big drive, when the group met at the just recently opened Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor hotel, which is located right in the heart of what is traditionally Munich’s artistic and bohemian quarter and captures the unique spirit of the Bavarian capital in its interior and atmosphere. Kicking off over drinks with a view at the hotel’s rooftop bar M’Uniqo, guests then received their roadbooks and a briefing for the next day’s main event – the scenic drive. Finally, the group went on to enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant, The Lonely Broccoli, a modern meat house serving traditional Bavarian fare with a twist.
With a long drive ahead, activities got off to an early start the next morning. By 8.30am, guests were on their way south, heading towards Austria. After filling up their cars and stretching their legs at the first stop just across the border in Austria the members then continued onwards to their lunch location near the South Tyrolean Lake Reschen. The single church steeple in the middle of the artificial lake made for a great photo opportunity before members met for lunch at the beautiful Hotel Traube Post.
Via a drive through the beautiful Swiss Val Müstair, and alongside the stunning Lago di Livigno, the group then made their way to Bormio, where they arrived in the late afternoon. A well-deserved welcome drink and dinner was the last pitstop for the day, after what everybody agreed had been a fantastic drive, with lots of time for exploring and enjoying the scenery.
On the menu for the following day were – apart from a beautiful lunch at Agriturismo Rini, where traditional Valtelline dishes were served – a range of activities, including an e-mountain bike tour, village walking tour of Bormio with several stops to taste some local treats, and more driving tours to explore the surrounding area. The event concluded over an absolute highlight of the trip: dinner at the stunning Agriturismo San Gallo, where the group enjoyed another evening of laughter, stories, exchanging pictures and a range of the most delicious dishes paired with fantastic service from the lovely owners.
