REVIEW. CARIBBEAN UP CLOSE: AN AUTHENTIC TASTE OF ST KITTS.
BANANA BAY, ST KITTS AND NEVIS.
Guests from the US, Europe and Singapore joined a BMW i Pure Impulse Caribbean island adventure that one member described upon departure as “hard to beat”.
A stunning tropical destination, coupled with the freshest, authentic food and a fantastic program put together by the BMW i Pure Impulse team made for an unforgettable weekend for those attending.
After guests had arrived at the only one-year-old luxurious Park Hyatt St Kitts resort, the event kicked off with a welcome dinner at the farm-to-table The Fisherman’s Village restaurant, where guests indulged in lobster fresh off the boat and other seafood and meat. Two steel pan players entertained the guests until late into the night.
The next day was packed to the brim with exciting activities – in the morning, an island tour and a short visit to St Kitts’ capital Basseterre made for an interesting “tourist” program, capped off with a visit to the stunning grounds of Romney Manor. The former residence of the owners of the Wingfield Estate sugar plantation was built by Sam Jefferson – the great-great-great grandfather of the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson – and is now home to the world-famous Caribelle Batik.
In the afternoon, guests got to immerse themselves fully into the island culture, beginning with lunch, which was served at a favorite local hangout: Sprat Net at Old Road, the first British settlement in the Caribbean. Guests dug into fresh-as-can-be red snapper, ribs and chicken while sitting at large communal tables. The lively atmosphere was complemented by a performance by local dancers, with many guests joining in for some pre-lunch exercise.
But the highlight of the day was yet to come: a game of cricket – the local pastime of choice – against a local cricket team at Basseterre’s Conaree Cricket Ground, where “The Impulsives” were not only cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd who had gathered to watch the game, but also a commentator who put on his best English accent, much to the amusement of all attending.
After an exciting afternoon of highly-contested cricket (for many this was their first encounter with the game), “The Impulsives” team member Kevin McCarthy was named “Man of the Match” for his sheer determination and desire to win.
A fantastic day finished over dinner at the hotel’s Stone Barn restaurant, where the eager players also received trophies commemorating their first cricket match.
A private sunrise yoga session completed this amazing event the next morning, leaving guests relaxed and energized for their journey home.
